Government Backs Swansea Station Redevelopment
Work at Swansea train station phase one and two has recently been completed after it was awarded Welsh Assembly funding as part of a £7 million remodeling strategy – with phase three due to be completed this summer – for which Vitec was contracted to provide a number of services. These included preliminary design and project management of M&E services and telecommunications – incorporating CCTV systems, digital information display boards and ticket vending machines.
Vitec Secures Arriva Trains Wales Contract
Vitec has secured a contract for a feasibility plan outlining its ability to deliver project management and CDM coordination for the installation of 55 new ticket vending machines at over 45 stations across South Wales.
State-of-the-Art School For Port Talbot
Vitec has recently been appointed M&E coordinator to support and assist the project management of services at Ysgol Newydd Sandfields, Port Talbot. The £8 million project will witness the development of a new, state-of-the-art school set to house over 300 pupils. Working closely with Dawnus Construction, Vitec’s management expertise will help ensure that services at the school will be completed in time for its scheduled opening of September this year.
New Medical Centre for Cardiff
The new Clough more medical centre is a 1000m2 GP practice with five partners providing medical assistance to over 8000 people in the Cardiff area. Vitec was appointed by Riverside Building Services to provide and coordinate detailed designs for its M&E services.
Manchester Victoria Station Redevelopment
Appointed as M&E designers on behalf of NG Bailey Rail, Vitec provided work including; state of the art LED lighting systems, fire alarm, PAVA, customer information services, telecoms and data for the £40 million major redevelopment of Manchester Victoria Station; with other works including new platforms, metrolink platform, additional retail facilities and a £16m replacement roof.
Talybont Gate Student Accommodation
Work has recently begun on a six storey, 178 bed student accommodation facility at Talybont Gate, Cardiff. Appointed by Lorne Stewart on behalf of Cardiff University, Vitec’s role included detailed M&E design, mechanical ventilation, CCTV and security.
Cadogan Gardens, London
The redevelopment of a number of luxury apartments near Slone Square, Kensington, Chelsea has recently begun. Appointed by main contractor Dawnus, the coordination and M&E sub-contractor Vitec provided a full M&E design service which included heating, lighting, ventilation and security.
As part of Network Rail’s ‘access for all’ scheme and DDA (disability discrimination act) provision, Vitec was appointed to provide a complete M&E service of the new Birkenhead footbridge, including CIS, CCTV, lighting, telecoms and interconnecting services between platforms. The ‘access for all’ scheme aims to provide better accessibility at stations across the UK with installation of wheelchair accessible ramps and lifts.
